Alex is the ABA Bioscience Team’s specialist Research and Development Consultant. He spends his days meticulously drafting and preparing R&D Tax Incentive narratives to ensure that our clients’ activities and supporting information are displayed in line with current legislative requirements to mitigate risk and maintain the highest level of compliance to the program.
Alex comes to us with an interdisciplinary background in both Law (LLB) and Pharmaceutical Science (BPcolTox), which allows him to not only interpret your clinical activities with a scientific understanding but additionally leverage his legal experience to look at things from an out of the box lens.
Alex has previously worked for the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service in the Governance and Compliance Team, which gives him an added layer of understanding with regard to regulations in the healthcare system – advantageous experience that gives him an extra edge to assist our clients!
During Alex’s time at university, he spent his final year researching CRISPR technology and the disruptive potential of advancements in genetic technology – an area he has a particular interest in further discovering.

Renee is our Head of R&D and has spent over 11 years as an R&D Tax Specialist. Renee has worked for global Big 4 professional services firms and has successfully partnered with many large clients.
Prior to life as an R&D Tax Specialist, Renee obtained her PhD and had a successful scientific research career in Biotechnology & Bioinformatics. Renee’s blended career experience provides her with a deep insight and understanding of R&D technical concepts to assist companies to identify eligible R&D activities and allows her to bring a strong commercial approach to the R&D claim process.
Renee has led large engagement teams to assist companies (including large multinationals) to access benefits as a result of their R&D initiatives and has worked closely with companies on R&D Tax governance and risk management frameworks. Renee has extensive experience in liaising with regulators in response to the certification of eligible R&D activities, risk reviews and statutory audits.

Kim has over 16 years’ experience in the clinical research field and is the founder of SAPRO Consulting Pty Ltd following her career at a leading Clinical Research Organisation (CRO). Kim has worked with a diverse range of clients including emerging biotech companies, competently guiding and managing global and full service Phase I-IV clinical drug and device studies across many different therapeutic areas. Kim has extensive experience and a proven track record for delivering and executing regulatory strategies within budget and on time whilst proactively negating risk and reporting to board members.
Kim is a certified member of the Regulatory Affairs Professional Society (RAPS) and of the Project Management institute (PMI). Kim has been an invited speaker to present at the ARCS Annual Conference 2019, Sydney – “Challenges of Conducting Phase I Oncology studies in Non-Phase I Units” and most recently invited as an Expert Panel Presenter at Endpoints News Webinar – “Managing Global Studies with Regional Partners” in October 2020.

He is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and his Board experience as a Chair, Director and Observer include more than 20 Australian, UK and US-based life science companies.
